With over 200 million people, a global Nollywood industry, a rapidly growing export-focused fashion sector, and one of the continent's most vibrant diaspora fashion communities, Nigeria's fashion industry contributes billions to the national economy annually.

Yet legal protections for Nigerian designers and fashion businesses remain significantly underdeveloped. Many designers operate without trademark registration, leaving their brand identities vulnerable. Contract literacy remains low across the industry. And access to specialist fashion legal advice — outside of expensive commercial law firms — has historically been almost nonexistent.
